Pharm-Q ITH lets your pharmacy technician and pharmacist work together without the technician leaving the isolation hood (or restricted area) and without the pharmacist being immediately present when questions arise.1
Today’s pharmacists average ten minutes of uninterrupted work before their attention is needed elsewhere. If high-risk medication preparation is underway and needs attention, a pharmacist must leave his current work and spend valuable time trekking to the IV room and properly preparing for entry. Under these circumstances the technician spends inordinate amounts of time waiting on the pharmacist or leaves and reenters the restricted area to find and consult with the pharmacist.
Envision’s Pharm-Q ITH system attacks this problem at its root: Through the use of the latest video communication, still imaging and remote technologies, the technician never need leave the IV room, or even an IV hood itself, in order to consult with the pharmacist. And the pharmacist never again need be tied down to the preparation area. Both can attend to their work at their most natural rhythm and effective pace.
Available in a variety of models and configurations, Pharm-Q ITH can be deployed in your restricted areas without disrupting your current layout.
Pharm-Q ITH is available in the following standard layouts: wall mount above a countertop; free standing on a table; attached to the underside of shelving units; cart-mounted; retrofitted into a sealed hood; and of course into an open hood. Most Pharm-Q ITH configurations provide multiple mats so that several compounding orders can be underway at the same time as dictated by your current staffing and layout. (Other nonstandard configurations may be available on request.)
How Envision’s Pharm-Q In The Hood (ITH) System Works
Pharm-Q ITH combines wireless technologies, video instant messaging, web-based tools, and imaging systems so that a preparation technician can remain gloved while communicating remotely with any supervising pharmacist within reach of a web browser. The tech prepares products and transfers images of the work and final product using mouse-only operations (no keyboard), laser view-finding cameras, video chat, and in-process images triggered by foot pedal.2 Images are easily accessed in the web-based queue by the pharmacist who conducts checks of the preparation and final product. The tech can annotate the images, discuss issues real-time via web cameras, and contact the pharmacist without leaving the prep area, interrupting work or waiting for the pharmacist to arrive at the prep area. As with all Pharm-Q products, each order is archived and available for quality improvement studies.
