Envision CEO to Discuss Telepharmacy Practices at 70th FIP World Congress in Lisbon, Portugal (28 August – 2 September 2010)

Envision’s founder and CEO Emily Alexander, Pharm.D., BCPS will be joining her peers at this year’s International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) World Congress to discuss how telepharmacy can support FIP’s 2005 Statement of Policy on Improving Access to Medicines in Developing Countries.

Alpine, TX – August 27, 2010 – In September, 2005, the International Pharmaceutical Federation approved a Statement of Policy concerning improving access to medicines in developing countries. That policy specifically recommended that national “pharmacy organizations share information on the barriers to access to medicines within their countries and work with their governments and health professional colleagues to devise strategies at the local, national, and international levels on ways to overcome those barriers.”

As part of its effort to share information relevant to improving access to safe, efficacious pharmaceuticals, the 70th FIP World Congress organized a session on “Using Pharmacy Information Technology to Improve Patient Outcomes and Safety: Update On Developments Around The World.” Besides Emily Alexander of Envision Telepharmacy, who will be speaking on “Use of Telepharmacy to Increase Access to Pharmacy Services,” speakers from Australia, The Netherlands, Ghana, Portugal and the United Kingdom will speak on the afternoon of 31 August 2010 on each nation’s use of IT to support pharmaceutical care. Of note are speakers Alexander Dodoo and Lindsay McClure, FIP Executive Committee President and Secretary, respectively.

Ms. Alexander will also be available to discuss Envision’s products and services at Booth #9 at the associated exhibition hall in the Lisbon Congress Centre. More information about the 70th FIP World Congress can be found at http://www.fip.org/lisbon2010/
